Formed in Birmingham on 1968. By guitarist Tony Iommi. Bassist and main song writer Terry Geezer Butler. Singer Ozzy Osbourne and drummer Bill Ward. The band experienced multiple line up changes throughout the years. Iommi being the only constant member. Throughout its history. Originally formed as a blues rock band called Earth. The group soon adopted the Black Sabbath dark sound. They began incorporating occult themes. With horror inspired lyrics and tuned down guitars. They also composed songs about social instability. Politics. Drugs.

Osbourne’s regular use of alcohol and drugs. Led to him being scaked from the band in 1979. He was replaced by former Rainbow singer; Ronnie James Dio. Following two albums with Dio. Black Sabbath endured countless personal changes in the 1980’s and 1990’s. That included Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillan. Glenn Hughes. Ray Gillen and Tony Martin. As well as several drummers and bassists. In 1992. Iommi and Butler rejoined Ronnie James Dio with drummer Vinny Appice to record Dehumanizer. The original line up reunited with Ozzy in 1997 to do two gigs in Birmingham. They released a live album Reunion, then toured to promote the live album after great success.

Black Sabbath’s final studio album and nineteenth overall; 13. Features all of the original members. Apart from Bill Ward. A year after embarking on a farewell tour. The band played their final concert at their home city of Birmingham, England on the 4th February 2017.
