An English rock band started in Hertford in 1968. Considered to be one of the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock. Although their musical approach changed over the years. Originally formed as a progressive rock band, the band shifted to a heavier sound in 1970. Moreover Deep Purple autographs. Over an eight-year span (1976–1984) Deep Purple had several line-up changes. The 1968/1976 line-ups are commonly labelled Mark I, II, III and IV. The second and most commercially successful line-up featured Ian Gillan (vocals). Jon Lord (keyboards. backing vocals). Roger Glover (bass). Ian Paice (drums), and Ritchie Blackmore (guitar). Together with Mark II line-up this was active from 69 to 73 and was again from 84 to 89, then again from 92 to 93. They achieved more modest success in the intervening periods between 1968 and 1969. As well as to this date, their current line-up (featuring Ian Gillan, and guitarist Steve Morse from 94) has been much more stable in recent years. Keyboardist Jon Lord’s retirement from the band in 2002 (being succeeded by Don Airey). Ian Paice is the only original Deep Purple member still in the band.
Greatest Artists of Rock shown on VH1 ranked Deep Purple Autographs as #22. Planet Rock British radio did a poll and ranked them 5th among the “most influential bands ever”. Furthermore, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inducted them in 2016.
