Jimmy Page

James Patrick Page OBE (born 9 January 1944) is an English musician, songwriter, multi instrumentalist and record producer who achieved international success as the guitarist and founder of the rock band Led Zeppelin.

Page is prolific in creating guitar riffs and his varied style involves various guitar tunings, technical and melodic solos and aggressive; distorted guitar tone as well as his folk and eastern influenced acoustic work. Noted for occasionally playing his guitar with a cello bow; to create a droning sound texture to the music.

Page began his career as a studio session musician in London and, by the mid-1960s; alongside Big Jim Sullivan, was one of the most sought-after session guitarists in Britain. Furthermore, a member of the Yardbirds from 1966 to 1968. In late 1968, he founded Led Zeppelin.

Although Page, considered one of the greatest and most influential guitarists of all time. Rolling Stone magazine has described Page as “the pontiff of power riffing” and ranked him number three in their list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”, behind Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. In 2010, he was ranked number two in Gibson’s list of “Top 50 Guitarists of All Time” and, in 2007, number four on Classic Rocks “100 Wildest Guitar Heroes”. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice; once as a member of the Yardbirds (1992) and once as a member of Led Zeppelin (1995).

Jeff Beck

Geoffrey Arnold Beck (born 24 June 1944) is an English rock guitarist. Then again, one of the three noted guitarists to have played with the Yardbirds (the other two being Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page). Beck also formed the Jeff Beck Group and with Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice, he formed Beck, Bogert & Appice.

Besides, Much of Beck’s recorded output has been instrumental, with a focus on innovative sound; and his releases have spanned genres ranging from blues rock, hard rock, and an additional blend of guitar-rock and electronica. Although he recorded two hit albums (in 1975 and 1976) as a solo act; Beck has not established or maintained the sustained commercial success of many of his contemporaries and bandmates. Besides, Beck appears on albums by Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger, Tina Turner, Morrissey, Donovan, Diana Ross, Jon Bon Jovi, Malcolm McLaren, Kate Bush, Roger Waters, Stevie Wonder, Les Paul, Zucchero, Cyndi Lauper, Brian May, Roger Taylor, Stanley Clarke, Screaming Lord Sutch, ZZ Top, and Toots and the Maytals.

Ranked fifth in Rolling Stone’s list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” and the magazine; upon whose cover Beck has appeared three times; has described him as “one of the most influential lead guitarists in rock”. He is often called a “guitarist’s guitarist”. Beck has earned wide critical praise and received the Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance six times and Best Pop Instrumental Performance once. Also, 2014 he received the British Academy’s Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music. Beck has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: as a member of The Yardbirds (1992) and as a solo artist (2009).
